Jonathan Weng
Jonathan Weng
Secretary-General
In his culminating year at Saint Thomas Aquinas Regional Secondary School, Jonathan is honoured to serve as the founder and inaugural Secretary-General of the North Vancouver Model United Nations, establishing the region’s first conference to empower student delegates in diplomacy, debate, and global policy-making. He first discovered Model United Nations in ninth grade, and since then, it has been a defining part of his life—full of spirited debates, countless position papers, and collaborative leadership experiences that shaped his ability to organize and guide diverse teams. Beyond MUN, he is deeply committed to education and service, having founded two national non-profit organizations impacting thousands of students and communities, and serving as the youngest ambassador of UCESCO-Africa. Jonathan looks forward to fostering meaningful dialogue, collaboration, and lifelong leadership skills among the next generation of global leaders.
Lara Hamzavi
Lara Hamzavi
Director-General
In her final year at Rockridge Secondary, Lara is honoured to be serving as the Director-General at this year's iteration of North Vancouver Model United Nations. Her experience in the captivating world of Model UN has been a collage of personal growth and invaluable experiences. From a nervous delegate walking up to the podium practically shaking, to quieting delegates using McDonalds milkshakes as a gavel, there are always new circumstances that she eagerly waits to uncover. Outside of the committee rooms, Lara can always be found getting herself banned from the microwave for scientific experiments and thinking about what the future holds. As the conference nears, Lara is extremely excited to watch a captivating conference unfold. She wishes everybody good luck and an amazing experience!
Brian Deng
Brian Deng
Chief of Staff
As a Grade 11 student at St. George’s School, Brian is honoured to be serving as the Chief of Staff at North Vancouver Model United Nations 2025. Having first developed his skills in debate, he later transitioned to Model UN, where he quickly came to appreciate the unique challenges of collaboration and diplomacy. Over time, he has discovered that success in MUN lies not in winning arguments, but in fostering dialogue, building consensus, and engaging thoughtfully with diverse perspectives. Beyond the committee room, Brian enjoys music, basketball, and creative writing, pursuits that balance both analytical and artistic expression. He values the energy, camaraderie, and learning opportunities that MUN offers, and looks forward to contributing to the memorable experiences that define each conference.
Juri Matsuda
Juri Matsuda
USG of Committees
In her penultimate year at Little Flower Academy, Juri is honoured to serve as Under-Secretary-General of Committees for the first iteration of NVMUN. She first discovered Model UN just last year, and since then, she’s gone from a rookie delegate to a MUN club leader, staying up until 5 a.m. cramming research, and collecting enough funny conference memories to last a lifetime. When Juri isn’t buried in resolutions, you can find her listening to Bixby, eating fried chicken, or singing in the shower (a Grammy-worthy performance, in her opinion). She also drags herself out of bed at 5:30 a.m. four days a week for choir and has a not-so-secret talent for tripping down the stairs. At NVMUN 2025, Juri is most excited to see delegates grow throughout the day, transforming from nervous first-timers into confident speakers proudly stepping out of their last committee session (ideally without tripping).
Jacqueline Leung
Jacqueline Leung
USG of Delegate Affairs
A sophomore at Sentinel Secondary, Jacqueline is honored to serve as the USG of Delegate Affairs for this iteration of NVMUN. Following her first conference in March of 2024, halfway across the world in Hong Kong, she has grown to love the fast paced, fervent debate that comes with Model UN. During conferences, you can find her passionately defending her resolutions to whatever end, including the feasibility of relying on external funding sources like the World Bank and “calling for” the formation of yet another sub-committee to manage operations outlined in a resolution. Outside of MUN, you can find her hunched over old clothing stressing over whether her next sewing upcycle will work out, ardently taking apart competitors’ debate arguments, drowning in piles of beads, yarn and other craft supplies, or trying out the newest and trendiest cafes all over Metro Vancouver. Jacqueline is ecstatic to meet all that are attending NVMUN and looks forward to providing an amazing experience for staff, delegates and chaperones alike.
Jordan Plomp
Jordan Plomp
USG of Finance
A senior at St. Thomas Aquinas Secondary School, Jordan is honoured to serve as the Under-Secretary-General of Finance for NVMUN 2025. He first discovered his passion for Model United Nations in ninth grade through his keen interest in geopolitics, and since then has played a key role in leading his school’s MUN club. For Jordan, the most rewarding aspects of Model UN are the welcoming community it fosters and the countless opportunities it provides for personal growth and development. Beyond MUN, Jordan is an active athlete, participating in martial arts and track and field. He also enjoys reading and, at times, unwinding as a self-proclaimed couch potato. Looking ahead, Jordan is eager to contribute to the success of this year’s conference, connect with new people, and create lasting memories. He extends his best wishes to all delegates for an engaging and fruitful experience at NVMUN 2025.
Aidan Jarratt
Aidan Jarratt
Director of Logistics
A senior at St. Thomas Aquinas Secondary, Aidan is honoured to serve as Director of Logistics. Since the beginning of his Model UN journey in 2024, he is proud to take on a leadership role in his school’s club, where he helps mentor new delegates as they prepare for their first conferences. For Aidan, the most rewarding part of Model UN is the tight-knit community it fosters, the kindness of the people, and the way it continues to expand and strengthen with every conference. Outside of MUN, Aidan can be found draining threes on the basketball court, getting absolutely cooked at track and field practice, or invading the public library after school with his friends. As Director of Logistics, Aidan is dedicated to ensuring NVMUN’s first iteration runs smoothly, creating a memorable and enjoyable experience for all delegates.
Joshua Huh
Joshua Huh
USG of Outreach
As a sophomore at Vancouver College, Joshua is thrilled to serve as the Under-Secretary-General of Outreach at NVMUN. Since raising his placard at his first conference, he has embraced the competitive yet collaborative spirit of Model United Nations, where he has developed a passion for international relations, diplomacy, and global cooperation. Through Model UN, Joshua has gained invaluable skills in public speaking, negotiation, and leadership, while also forming lasting friendships and meaningful memories. He especially values the late nights and early mornings of discussion, debate, and problem-solving. Outside of the committee room, Joshua can be found playing soccer, lacrosse, and spending time with friends—often attempting to persuade them to eat at Chipotle. He hopes that NVMUN will foster a fruitful, creative, and welcoming environment for all!

Erin Sweeney
USG of Marketing
As a Grade 10 student at McMath Secondary School, Erin is ecstatic to serve as the Under-Secretary-General of Marketing. From initially choosing countries solely based off how much she liked their Eurovision songs to including brain rotted references in her speeches, Erin has developed a strong passion for MUN and hopes other delegates will too! When not rapidly scrawling down a barely legible speech, Erin can be found posting content on global affairs, stressing over academics, and anticipating the next Eurovision song contest! Erin wishes all delegates the best of luck at NVMUN 2025 and anticipates a conference of fruitful debate and meaningful discourse!
Matthew Wang
Matthew Wang
USG of IT
Matthew, a member of the graduating class of 2025 at Saint Thomas Aquinas Regional Secondary School, has participated in numerous conferences as a delegate with the Saint Thomas Aquinas Model United Nations Club and now serves as the Under-Secretary-General of Information Technology for the first iteration of NVMUN. An aspiring web developer with an interest in cybersecurity and IT support, he enjoys solving technical challenges and building new projects. Outside of MUN and programming, Matthew is a keen alpine skier. Through MUN, he has developed greater confidence in public speaking and collaboration-skills he looks forward to applying in future pursuits. Now a student at UBC, he looks forward to continuing his MUN journey.
Andy Huang
Andy Huang
USG of Media
As a junior at St. John’s School, Andy is ecstatic to serve as the USG of Media. He began his MUN journey on a whim two years ago and was rapidly captivated by the professional diplomacy and collaborative environment this activity has to offer. Every MUN conference is a challenge that has allowed him to develop as a leader, strengthen his communication skills, and gain a deeper understanding of the current global situation. As a delegate, he successfully overcame his fear of public speaking and also built enduring connections with other participants. Outside the conference room, he enjoys graphic design, playing video games, and consuming copious amounts of food. Andy looks forward to the inaugural iteration of NVMUN and knows that it will truly be an unforgettable experience for everyone.
